isle of palms weather report

Six miles of gorgeous white
beaches, private and tucked away from all the noise and intrusions....
Isle of Palms is an ultimate vacation and retirement destination, and
quite close to the city of Charleston - about a 15-minute drive. You can rent a vacation home or a
villa, condo, and travel easily back and forth to charleston, Mt. Pleasant
and surrounding areas. Peaceful, charming and quiet, with stores and
services close
by, but far enough away from the real world. The Isle of Palms is a great place to park
yourself should the heat of the city be a little much in the midst of the
summer season.
Enjoy fishing, swimming,
boating, lazing on the beach, tennis and golf, rent a bicycle (the beaches
are great for bike riding!), and rollerblading. The are two golf
courses, and both clay and hard-court tennis courts

A Little Bit About The
Isle of Palms
The Isle of Palms, not far
from the city of Charleston, is over 25,000 years old, and was first
inhabited by the Seewee Indians. It is believed that pirates buried their
treasures along the deserted dunes. It was originally named Hunting
Island, and Long Island.
During the Civil War, Isle of
Palms was a point of departure for the CSS Hunley. The Hunley and her crew were
lost at sea, and the wreck of the Hunley was recently discovered near
Sullivan's Island
In the
late 1800's, the island became a refuge from the summer heat of in the city. The
island was purchased in 1899 by J.S. Lawrence, and he named it Isle of Palms. By
1912, there was a beach pavillion and an amusement park with a ferris wheel.
Eventually, residents of Charleston could catch a ferry to Mt. Pleasant, and a trolley car
to the Isle of Palms.

A Litte of The Wild Life
You can spot osprey, pelicans, dolphins, and
loggerhead sea turtles that come on shore to lay
their eggs. At just the right time of year, you might see hundreds of baby
turtles making a mad
dash for the ocean from the dunes. During one of our stays, we had to
turn the lights off
early at our house to keep the babies from getting confused and going in the
wrong direction
